It's a name, and it's a map. It's not an industry. It's a very fickle business where you're here today and gone tomorrow. After one hell of a ride…Mine is a reluctant talent. I have tremendous energy, tremendous stamina, and the ability to work very, very hard; that's how I see myself. Do as you're told and compete to win. That's me. Fortunately, I was given a talent. I don't know how I got it; it certainly didn't run in the family. When Sophie Rosenstein, the acting coach at Warner Brothers, told me back in 1948 that I had a great potential as a 'comedienne,' I didn't even know what the word meant…They pushed me out there in the right directions…They planted the seed; the world discovers you and then you become what they saw."  Debbie Reynolds's (1932-2016) film career began at MGM after she won a beauty contest at age 16 impersonating Betty Hutton. Most of her film work has been in MGM musicals, as perky, wholesome young women. In 1952, Reynolds starred in what many consider to be Hollywood's greatest musical, Singin' in the Rain (1952). She continued to use her dancing skills with stage work. Nearly all the money she has made is spent toward her goal of creating a Hollywood museum. Her collection numbers more than 3000 costumes and 46,000 square-feet worth of props and equipment. Lightly creased. Slight yellowing around signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
