searching for a wife, "Hank is "hunting" in more than one area".
Autograph Letter signed: "Dee Carroll", 1 page, 5½x8½. No
place, no date. On her personal letterhead, written to "Dear Jimmy",
in full: "Went to the Hollywood Women's Press Club lunch today &
met a beautiful & charming woman who's a life-time friend of your boy Hank
Williams __ C'nelia Wallace! It was a rare & delightful treat - she's here
plugging her book jut out! Seems in a moment of private chat - Hank is "hunting"
in more than one area - she says last time she spoke to him he asked "Why don't
you find me a wife?!" Having passed on the gossip of the day - I shall leave you
with - Love, [signature] Hope all's well with you too!" American
character actress Dee Carroll (1925-1980) appeared in films and television
series for 35 years. She played several roles on Dragnet (1954 &
1955), Leave it to Beaver (1960), Lawman (1959, 1960, & 1961),
Bonanza (1963, 1964 & 1966), Petticoat Junction (1965, 1966
& 1967), Dragnet 1967 (1968 & 1969) and The Virginian
(1963, 1965, 1966, 1967 1968, 1969 & 1971). She also appeared in two
episodes of The Alfred Hitchock Hour (1963 & 1964) and in the classic
1960 The Twilight Zone episode "Nick of Time". Her film credits
include A Guide for the Married Man (1967), The Prisoner of Second
Avenue (1975) and The Stunt Man (1980). One vertical fold. Staple
holes at top left corner. One filing hole at top edge. Slightly creased.
