DEFENDING YOUR LIFE MOVIE CAST: LEE GRANT and ALBERT BROOKS
The actor and actress sign on an 8x10 publicity photograph from the film
Photograph Signed: "Lee Grant", "Albert Brooks", B/w 10x8. The 1991 film Defending Your Life, by Geffen Pictures, shows an after-life that looks much like the present-day United States where people must prove how they have demonstrated courage. Julliard-trained LEE GRANT (b. 1925) joined the American Ballet company at age 11. A veteran stage actress whose Broadway appearances ranged from Detective Story (1949) to The Prisoner of Seventh Avenue (1973), was nominated for three Best Supporting Actress Oscars (Detective Story, 1951; The Landlord (1970) and Voyage of the Damned (1976) and won another (Shampoo, 1975). She won an Emmy on TV's Peyton Place (1966). Grant has also sat in the Director's chair, beginning with Tell Me a Riddle (1966). Grant might have been an even bigger film start had she not been blacklisted in the 1950s for refusing to testify against her then husband, Arnold Manoff. The son of radio comedian Harry Einstein ("Parkyakarkus"), ALBERT BROOKS (born in 1947) became a standup comedian, writing and performing for TV beginning with The Dean Martin Show (1970). He was nominated for an Oscar as Best Supporting Actor for Broadcast News (1987). His other films, in which he often triples as actor, screenwriter and director, include Defending Your Life (1991) and The Muse (1999). Brooks was also the voice of Marlin in the animated feature film, Finding Nemo (2003). Unknown residue on bottom edge (not effecting signature). Otherwise, fine condition.
