American singer whose biggest claim to fame is the hit pop single “Let's Hear It for the
Boy” (1984). The song was featured on Footloose (1984), which stars Kevin Bacon as a
big-city teenager who moves to the country. The album she released that shares the same
name as the song earned Platinum status. She's released many albums since her debut in
1970 and has been nominated for 10 Grammy Awards over the course of her career,
winning four. In the 1980s she slowly transitioned away from pop towards Gospel music.
