February 12. To Mr. Harry Cooper, Walsall, West Midlands, in full:
"Thank you very much for your letter. I am glad that you enjoyed
'Deathtrap', and here is the signed photograph that you asked for. [Item not
included.] Yours sincerely". The many London stage successes of Denis
Quilley (1927-2003) included Royal National Theatre productions of
Shakespeare comedies and tragedies, an appearance with Laurence Olivier in
Long Day's Journey Into Night, and the title role in Sondheim's
Sweeney Todd (1980). His feature films include the Agatha Christie
mysteries Evil Under the Sun and Murder on the Orient Express. He
starred in the TV SF series Timeslip, and played Saint Peter in the
mini-series A.D. He returned to Sweeney Todd in the role of Judge
Turpin (1993). Light surface creases. Adhesive residue on top margin and on
verso. Slightly toned. Fold in center. Corners slightly worn. Otherwise, fine
condition.
