DENISE DARCEL
The cabaret dancer pens "Best Wishes" on this 4¼x3 card for a
fan
Autograph Note Signed: "To Kayo/Best Wishes/Denis Darcel".

Darcel, born Denise Billecard in Paris, France in 1925, was a cabaret
dancer before being signed for an uncredited appearance in To The Victor
(1948). This was the first of 15 movies and TV shows that the exotic-looking
Darcel appeared in, including the only credited female role in
Battleground (1949) and in 1950's Tarzan and the Slave Girl, which
is possibly more well-known for its leggy publicity shots and poses than for its
acting or writing. She also starred in the Broadway revue Pardon Our
French (1950-1951, 100 performances). Her film career was brief, though, and
she virtually retired from films after 1954's Vera Cruz to return to the
nightclub circuit, with occasional guest star roles and appearances on talk
shows after that. Pencil notes (unknown hand) on verso. Fine
condition.
