DENNIS KING
Vintage photo at an NBC microphone, inscribed in person to collector Saul Goodman
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Saul/Sincerely/Dennis King". B/w 8x10. Collector's ink stamp on verso dates signature: November 2, 1938. English-born actor and singer Dennis King (b. Dennis Pratt, 1897-1971) played appeared on Broadway in works ranging from Shakespearean dramas to musical comedies. (He was Gaylord Ravenal in the 1932 revival of Show Boat.) He appeared in a few films of the 1930s, including The Vagabond King (1930, reprising a stage role). He also appeared in a few television plays, including a turn as Pontius Pilate in a Hallmark Hall of Fame production (1961). Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Corners worn and creased. Lightly toned around edges. Mounting residue on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
