DENNIS KUCINICH. Typed Letter signed: "Dennis J. Kucinich"
as Mayor of Cleveland, 1p, 7¼x10½. On official
letterhead. Cleveland, Ohio, 1978 May 9. To Paul J. Friscat, North
Canton, Ohio. In full: "Thank you very much for your interest in the
City of Cleveland and for taking the time to write to me. It is most rewarding
and extremely gratifying to hear from so many people who are interested in the
exciting things happening here in Cleveland. I am pleased to have this
opportunity to respond to your flattering request for an autographed photo. I
extend to you my warmest personal regards and best wishes." Kucinich,
elected Cleveland Mayor at age 31, had a troubled tenure (1977-1979),
including a default on the city's debt. Critics called him "Dennis the
Menace". However, Kucinich came back strongly, elected to the Ohio state
legislature and then to the U.S. Congress (1997- ). A self avowed
"long shot" Democratic candidate for President in 2004, he intends if
elected to abrogate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), withdraw
from the World Trade Organization and repeal the Patriot Act. Lightly
creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
