Hanging. Screen and television actor Denver Pyle (1920-1997) is
best known for his role as Uncle Jesse Duke on the TV series, The Dukes of
Hazzard (1979-1985). He would reprise the role on the TV series,
Enos, and in the 1997 made-for-TV movie, The Dukes of Hazzard:
Reunion. Pyle, a veteran of WWII, played supporting roles in films, mostly
in Westerns, from the late 1940s. He frequently appeared in John Wayne's
later films, and Pyle also gained attention for his role as Texas Ranger
Frank Hamer in Bonnie & Clyde (1967). A frequent guest star
on TV Westerns of the 1950s, Pyle would go on to appear in recurring
roles on a succession of TV series: The Life and Legend of Wyatt
Earp (as Ben Thompson, 1955, 1957), The Andy Griffith Show
(as Briscoe Darling, 1963-1967), The Doris Day Show (as her
father, 1968-1970) and The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams
(1978-1980). Lightly creased. Lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
