intend to be present at the Gala Opening Performance of 'HOLIDAY HAPPINESS' at the
Southport theatre on June 28th, 1975 at 8 p.m. Signed [signature]/ Please send two tickets to
the following address:- Northern Editor/ Daily Mirror/ Park Lane/ Manchester M60 4BR”.
Derek Jameson (1929-2012) was a tabloid journalist and broadcaster. During the height of
his popularity, he was famously described by Auberon Waugh as, “the second most famous
man in Britain - after Prince Charles.” Jameson started out in an entry-level position at
Reuters and rose to become the editor of multiple British tabloid newspapers, achieving
great prominence in the 1970s and 1980s. Subsequently, he served as a broadcaster on
BBC Radio 2, where he enjoyed an on-air partnership with his third wife Ellen. Corners and
