The two performers pens their name on this album leaf
Signature: "Desiree Ellinger" on front “Sincerely/ George Gee/ 1930.” on verso, both in black ink, 6¼x3¾. DESIREE ELLINGER (1894-1951) was a soprano-turned-musical comedy actress. Growing up, Ellinger was educated in Paris and Brussels. In 1916, Ellinger made her debut with the Beecham Opera Company singing the role of Nedda in Leoncavallo's Pagliacci. After singing with the company for several years, Ellinger decided to pursue a career acting in musical comedies. She performed on various international stages, including a few Broadway productions before retiring from the stage. GEORGE GEE (1895-1959) was a stage and screen actor. He was in a production of Babe In The Wood held at the Princes Theatre in London. In addition, Gee appeared in a number of series and TV movies in supporting roles. Among the many parts he played, Gee might be best remembered for playing Wyndham Bleugh in the 1948 TV movie Lady Luck. The actor's death was also quite memorable; while performing in a London production of The Merry Widow in 1959, Gee collapsed and died on stage of a heart attack. Left edge irregular from being torn from album. Toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
