DIANA ROSS. Photograph inscribed and signed: "To/Sid,/Diana Ross". B/w, 8x10 overall, image 6¾x9 (one surface). Motown publicity photograph. Name imprinted at lower margin. Singer and actress Diana Ross (born in 1944) first found fame as the lead singer of The Supremes, signed in 1961 after an audition at Motown. After a decade and 12 number one hits, the Supremes had become the third biggest pop act of the sixties, trailing only the Beatles and Elvis. It was at this point, in 1970, that Ross decided to strike out on her own. She continued recording and ventured into acting, winning a Golden Globe Award and being nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for Lady Sings the Blues. In 1993, Ross unveiled her star on the "Sidewalk of the Stars" outside of Radio City Music Hall at an inaugural ceremony with 15 other artists. And, in 1995, Berry Gordy presented her with the Heritage Award for Career Achievement at the ninth annual Soul Train Music Awards. Ross also made a trip to the Soul Train Hall of Fame later that year when she was inducted during the 25th Soul Train Anniversary. Lightly creased at blank margins and corners, lightly soiled at blank left and right margins, tack holes at upper corners. Minor surface creases (most not evident head on), some at facial image. Overall, fine condition.
