DIANE GARDNER
Writing to an Off-Broadway producer, she describes her recent acting successes.
Autograph Letter signed: "Diane", 2 pages (front and verso), 5x8. No place, 1967 December
13. To "Dear Mr. [Charles] Forsythe", in full: "Just a note to say 'thank you' once more
for your tremendous love and advice. Due to your kindness, I now have Margaret
Henderson, Gary Leverton interested in, and working for, me, as well as Lillian Stein.
Having just completed the Jay Harwick tour of 'Young Tom Jefferson' (which was
excellent experience for me), I have been given the role of 'Insane Agnes' (type casting no
doubt) in the 13th Street Theatre's production of 'The Drunkard', which I am thrilled
about. Also I will portray an obnoxious little girl, as well as a bar-room hostess who belts
a torchy rendition of 'Bill Bailey'. Thank you for being so very kind and wonderful to me -
and most especially for believing in me. I will be ever grateful! Great good luck with your
forthcoming show, and I wish you a very happy holiday. Sincerely". Charles Forsythe was
an off-Broadway choreographer and assistant producer, later employed by Warner Bros.
