Letter from the estate of Kitty Carlisle Hart, thanking Hart for hosting a women's luncheon
Autograph Letter signed: "Diane", 1 page, 6¼x8½. No place, no date. On personal letterhead to "Dear Kitty". In full: "The lunch was simply terrific! Such good food, good conversation, every woman provocative and fun. And all of us united in respect and love for you. Thank you for including me. I was honored; and what's more, I had a wonderful time. Fondly" [signature] P.S. And again - for the champagne - a big hug." Having come to Washington to help President Nixon write his memoirs, Diane Sawyer (b. 1945) became reporter for CBS. She earned a reputation for integrity within the news industry, and truthfully denied rumors that she was the "Deep Throat" of Watergate fame. In 1984, Sawyer became the first woman correspondent on 60 Minutes, but she jumped to ABC to co-host Prime Time Live (1989) and later Turning Point (1994). In January 1999, she became the co-host of Good Morning America and ten years later she became anchor of ABC World News. Her honors include Emmy Awards, a George Foster Peabody Award for public service, an IRTS Lifetime Achievement Award, a Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award and the USC Distinguished Achievement in Journalism Award. Sawyer is married to award-winning director Mike Nichols. This letter is addressed to, and was in the estate of, versatile singer, actress and TV personality Kitty Carlisle (1910-2007), who was still performing a one-woman show as late as 2006. She was married to playwright Moss Hart until his death in 1961. One horizontal mailing fold through center. Lightly creased. Fine condition.
