Typed Letter Signed: "Dianne Feinstein" in blue ink. 8½x11. One page. Place: Washington, District of Columbia. Date: December 9, 1993. Written on official United States Senate letterhead. Addressed to: Mr. Bill Geiger, 1311 East Euclid, Indianola, Iowa 50125. In full: "Dear Mr. Geiger: Enclosed you will find a photograph per your request. I am happy that my office could be of assistant to you. If there is anything else we can do for you, please feel free to contact us. May I take this opportunity to wish you and your family a happy and healthy holiday season. Warmest regards. Sincerely yours, Dianne Feinstein. United States Senator. DF: ajk Enclosure". Dianne Feinstein (1933-2023), who had been the first woman President of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, became the first woman Mayor of San Francisco in November 1978, following the assassinations of Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk. The following year, she was elected to the first of two four-year terms. In 1987, Feinstein was named the nation's "Most Effective Mayor", largely due to having balanced nine consecutive budgets. Elected to the U.S. Senate in 1992 to fill the remaining two years of California Governor Pete Wilson's term, Feinstein has been re-elected twice and was the first woman to serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
