DICK CAVETT. Signature: "Dick/Cavett", 5x3. Dick Cavett
(born in 1936) began his career as a comedy writer for Jack Paar and for
his Tonight Show successor, Johnny Carson. In 1968, he hosted a
daytime ABC talk show; the following year, Cavett was emceeing a nightly
TV chat fest, in direct competition with his old boss, Johnny Carson. Amidst
several other projects, Cavett went on to host a daily PBS interview
series (1977-1981), and he helmed similar programs on the USA and CNBC cable
services into the 1990s. Cavett occasionally appeared in dramatic roles on TV
and Broadway, and he was seen in a handful of films. Cast as "himself," Cavett
made fleeting appearances in Annie Hall (1977), Health (1979),
Nightmare on Elm Street 3 (1987) and Forrest Gump (1994), and he
was afforded a rare character part as a snooty intellectual in
Beetlejuice (1988). Cavett was married to actress Carrie Nye from
1964 until her death in 2006. Lightly creased with fold, vertical fold at the
"C" of Cavett. Lightly soiled. Overall, fine condition.
