DICK "DICKIE" HENDERSON
The British comedian signs near his image on a sheet listing some of
his early acting credits, size 4½x4
Biography signed: "Sincerely/Dick Henderson/8-7-49", in blue
ink. B/w, 4½x4. Printed slip affixed to cardstock. Slip contains his image,
birth year, and some of his early acting credits. British comedian Dick
Henderson (1922-1985), usually called "Dickie" to distinguish him for a famous
music hall father, performed on his father's act from early childhood and
appeared in the film version of Noel Coward's Cavalcade at age 10. His
father combined songs and humor - he was the first to sing "Tiptoe Through the
Tulips" - and Dickie incorporated music as well. His greatest fame came after
he signed this slip, when he launched the first of five TV series (four bearing
his name in the title) in 1953. Honored as an OBE, Henderson also
appeared on stage and in a few films. Creased from adhesive. Edges worn. Toned.
Ink note in hand unknown on cardstock. Otherwise, fine
condition.
