Signed autograph letter, stating that since working with Burns & Allen, he suspects everything - including the request for a sample of his handwriting- of being a gag.
Autograph Letter signed: "Dick Foran", 1 page, 8x10. No place, no date. To "Robert Taplinger". In full: "Here is the sample of my handwriting. Hope it's not a gag. You know, since working on the program with Burns and Allen, I've never had so much fun, but I suspect everything is a gag. Thanx." Dick Foran (1910-1979) was a band and radio singer before Warner Bros. turned him into a singing cowboy. As mentioned in this letter, he was often featured as a vocalist on radio's Burns and Allen Show.He received an Oscar nomination for a non-Western part, Bette Davis' jealous boyfriend in The Petrified Forest (1936). Moving on to Universal, he made many feature films and serials for the studio, even introducing a song which became a pop classic - "I'll Remember April" - in an Abbott and Costello comedy Ride 'Em Cowboy (1942). He continued in TV guest appearances and character roles through the 1960s, including a part in friend John Wayne's Donovan's Reef (1963). Edges ragged and torn. Corners chipped away. 1 horizontal fold crease through center.
