DICK SARGENT.
An Employee's Withholding Allowance Certificate signed by the actor
Document signed: "Dick Sargent", 1p, 8½x11. Hollywood, California, no date. Headed: "Employee's Withholding Allowance Certificate". IRS W-4 form. Sargent has filled in "100" for the number of allowances he is claiming and checked the "Single" box for his marital status. On verso, he has written "Hardcore" and "Clonus" (portion missing) at upper margin. Name, address and social security number (blacked out on scan) filled in (unknown hand). Likely signed circa 1979, the year he appeared in Hardcore and the made-for-TV movie, The Clonus Horror. That year, Sargent was also seen in three made-for-TV movies (Not Until Today, The Power Within and The Gossip Columnist) and he made guest appearances on two TV series, Charlie's Angels (four episodes, two different roles) and Fantasy Island. Screen and television actor Dick Sargent (1930-1994), born Richard Cox, is best known for his role as the "second Darrin Stephens" in the TV series, Bewitched. Sargent, who had been the first choice for the role, had to bow out due to a contract commitment with Universal, but he took over for an ailing Dick York in 1969, appearing as Darrin until the series' end in 1972. Sargent, who had made his film debut in 1956, appeared in a number of films, including Operation Petticoat (1959), The Great Imposter (1961), That Touch of Mink (1962), Captain Newman, M.D. (1963) and The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (1966). In addition to Bewitched, Sargent also starred in several other series, mini-series (including Rich Man, Poor Man in 1976) and made-for-TV movies in addition to making guest appearances on a long list of TV shows, from Medic (1956) to Harry and the Hendersons (1992), including multiple appearances on such shows as Love, American Style and Charlie's Angels. Lightly creased. Staple holes at upper left blank corner. 2 file holes at upper margin, which has light show through of writing on verso at right portion. Otherwise, fine condition.
