DICK SHARPLES
Typed letter from the prolific English scriptwriter.
Typed Letter signed: "Dick Sharples", 1 page, 8¼x11¾.
London, 1980 December 2. On personal letterhead to "Dear Mr. Wood",
in full: "Thank you for writing to me. I thought you might also
like to have a script. [Item not included.] Yours sincerely". English
writer Dick Sharples (b. 1927) went from successful ad copywriter and
aspiring novelist to hugely successful TV script writer. After contributing
episodes to British series like Joan and Leslie and The Saint, he
created series of his own: In Loving Memory (1969, 1979-1986),
Hallelujah! (1983-1984) and Farrington of the F. O.
(1986-1987). He also spent four years writing scripts for the U. K.
version of General Hospital. In the 1990s, he resumed writing novels,
including one (Getting Even: The Biggest Heist in History), which he
hopes to turn into a feature film. (He collaborated in the past on the movies
The Golden Rabbit and George and Mildred.) Small tear in left
edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
