Program signed: "Mignon Dunn" and "Birgit Nilsson", 2 pages, 5½x9. A program for a performance of Richard Strauss's opera Die Frau ohne Schatten on October 23, 1981 at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. In this performance Mignon Dunn played The Nurse and Birgit Nilsson played The Dyer's Wife. In 1956, she made her American debut with the San Francisco Opera, and in 1959, debuted at the Metropolitan Opera in New York as Isolde in Wagner's Tristan und Isolde. That same year, Nilsson debuted at Bayreuth as Elsa in Lonengrin, returning there regularly until 1970 in the roles of Isolde, Sieglinde and Brünnhilde. Also known for her performances as Elektra and Salome, Nilsson retired from the stage in 1984. Mignon Dunn, born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1931, is an American mezzo-soprano. She has performed over 600 times at the New York Metropolitan Opera between 1958 and 1994, beginning with a role as the nurse in Modest Muusorgsky's Boris Godunov. Fine condition.
