DINAH SHORE
Dinah Shore Montgomery signed release form to News Syndicate
Printed Form Letter Signed: "Dinah Shore Montgomery". 1p, 8½x11. No place, 1956 January 18. To the News Syndicate Co., New York. In full: "In consideration of the publicity to be given to me and which may arise herefrom, my consent is hereby irrevocably given to you, your assignees and licensees, and to the Chicago Tribune-New York News Syndicate, Inc., and its subscribers and licensees, to use my name, picture, or portrait, in publications for editorial or promotional purposes, excluding, however, commercial advertising." DINAH SHORE (1917-1994), a popular solo songstress, produced such 1940s hits as "Buttons and Bows", "Blues in the Night", "You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To" and "I'll Walk Alone". She moved on to a successful TV career with a musical show, The Dinah Shore Chevy Show (1956-1962), and a series of talk shows (1970-1980). It has been said that the above quoted trademark opening of her Chevy Show (which continued, "America's the greatest land of all") practically defined the 1950s. She was married to actor George Montgomery from 1954-1963. They remained friends after their divorce, with Montgomery, by then a successful furniture designer, appearing often on her talk shows. Pencil note (unknown hand) lower left and upper right. Fine condition.
