Dinah Shore responds to invitation to attend a school assembly
Typed Letter Signed: "Dinah Shore", 1p, 5x7. No place, 1960 April 10. On her personal letterhead to Miss Luz Gardy, New York. In full: "Thank you so much for your lovely invitation to attend your assembley (sic) and to welcome a committee from your school. However, sending the autograph picture (not present) as I am doing will present less of a transportation problem, because, you see, our program always emanates from California. With warm good wishes and thanks again." DINAH SHORE (1917-1994), a popular solo songstress, produced such 1940s hits as "Buttons and Bows", "Blues in the Night", "You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To" and "I'll Walk Alone". She moved on to a successful TV career with a musical show, The Dinah Shore Chevy Show (1956-1962), and a series of talk shows (1970-1980). It has been said that the above quoted trademark opening of her Chevy Show (which continued, "America's the greatest land of all") practically defined the 1950s. Stain at right center and lower center. Shading over entire right half of page. Otherwise, fine condition.
