DINO, DESI & BILLY was little more than a garage band formed by Dean Paul "Dino" Martin and Desi Arnaz, Jr. with classmate Billy Hinsche in 1964. What set them apart wasn't their music but their parents. Dino was the son of Dean Martin and Arnaz was the son of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, and one of their first auditions was for Frank Sinatra. Hinsche was the only teenager in the band, yet Dino, Desi & Billy quickly outsold Sinatra and found themselves opening for the Beach Boys. Their music could be charitably called "uninspired" and heralded bland bubblegum music, but they still manage to hang a hit, 1965's I'm a Fool, on the Billboard Pop Singles chart. Dino, Desi & Billy disbanded in 1970, but Arnaz resurrected it in 1998 as Ricci, Desi and Billy with Dino's brother Ricci. You could say that DESI ARNAZ, JR., born in Beverly Hills, California in 1953, was born into stardom. His birth to Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, Sr. (and the birth of his counterpart "Little Ricky" on I Love Lucy) crowded out President Dwight Eisenhower's inauguration on front pages. He got his acting start at age four in some of his mom's projects, including I Love Lucy (1957), The Lucy Show (1962-1965) and Here's Lucy (1968-1972). Modern audiences probably know him best from The Mambo Kings (1992) and his dead-on portrayal of his father. In addition to his acting career, he played with the rock band Dino, Desi and Billy with Dean Paul "Dino" Martin, son of Dean Martin. DEAN PAUL "DINO" MARTIN (1953-1987, born in Encino, California), the son of Dean Martin, was a member of the 1960s bubblegum group Dino, Desi & Billy. He also acted in 11 films and TV shows, including Players (1979), which earned him a Golden Globe for New Star of the Year, and the TV series Misfits of Science (1985-1986). Martin was an avid flier and got his pilot license when he was 16. He died after crashing his F-4 Phantom in the San Bernardino Mountains while on active duty with the California Air National Guard. Fine condition.
