English chef Dione Lucas (1909-1971) was the first female graduate of Le
Cordon Bleu in Paris, and opened a London extension of the chef's school in
the 1930s. As head cook of a Hamburg hotel restaurant, she served squab to
Adolph Hitler. In 1948 she became the first female chef on TV with her show
To the Queen's Taste. She published several books on French
cuisine and - through her New York restaurants, did much to popularize
the omelet in America. Surface creases seen head on. Notch at lower left
corner. Corners creased and worn. Mounting residue on verso. Otherwise, fine
condition.
