Actor in a Musical, despite competition in that category from John Lithgow.
Sherie Rene Scott was nominated for Best Actress. A distinguished actor of
stage, television, and movies who is at home playing everything from menacing
villains, big-hearted transsexuals, and loopy aliens, JOHN LITHGOW (b.
1945) is also a composer and performer of children's songs, a Harvard
graduate and a talented painter. Lithgow got his start in the early 1970s on
Broadway. He remained in New York for many years, establishing himself as one of
Broadway's most respected stars. Lithgow got his first real break and a Best
Supporting Actor nomination when he played macho football
player-turned-sensitive woman Roberta Muldoon in The World According to
Garp (1982). He earned a second Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for
Terms of Endearment (1983). Lithgow won two Tony Awards (1973,
2002), three Drama Desk Awards (1973, 1985, 2002) as well as the
2010 Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role
in a Series for his performance in the Showtime television series
Dexter. NORBERT LEO BUTZ (b. 1967) became one of only 9 actors
to win two Tony's as Best Leading Actor when his statue for Catch Me If You
Can (2011) joined that for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. He had
previously received a Best Featured Actor nomination for Thou Shalt
Not (2002). He also originated the role of Fiyero in
Wicked (2003). Butz is scheduled for a starring role in his tenth
Broadway play, Big Fish, in the Fall of 2013. Since her Tony
nomination for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, SHERIE RENE SCOTT (b. 1969) has
received three more: for Best Actress in Women on the Verge of a Nervous
Breakdown (2011), and for both Best Actress and Best Book for Everyday
Rapture (2010). She won a Drama Desk Special Award for "dedication to the
preservation of musical theatre through cast recordings". Dirty Rotten
Scoundrels was the fourth of five Broadway appearances to date for
SARA GETTELFINGER, the others being Seussical, The Boys from
Syracuse, Nine and A Free Man of Color (2010-2011). She also
appeared in a special benefit revival of Cole Porter's Anything Goes
(2002). Four years after he received a Drama Desk nomination as Best Featured
Actor in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, GREGORY JBARA (b. 1961) would
win that award, as well as a Tony, for his performance in Billy Elliott: the
Musical (2009). His other Broadway roles include a replacement Billy
Flynn in Chicago. Fine condition.
