Distracted, a comedy about America's preference for medicating disruptive children, ran from 2007 to 2009. CYNTHIA NIXON, who stars here as the mother of a boy diagnosed with ADHD, is best known as Miranda Hobbes from HBO's Sex and the City (1998-2004). Her Emmy awards were joined on the mantle by a Tony for Rabbit Hole (2006) and a Grammy (2009) for Best Spoken Word Album (Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth). MATTHEW GUMLEY (b. 1997), who played the boy Jesse, was already a Broadway veteran, having appeared on Broadway in Mary Poppins and The Addams Family. In November 2010, he is billed in the holiday play Elf. Gumley has appeared as a TV guest, and in commercials and video games. Beer League (2006) was his first feature film. JOSH STAMBERG, the son of NPR journalist Susan Stamberg, plays Jesse's dad. Stamberg is a TV veteran, with recurring roles on several series, most recently Drop Dead Diva (2009-2010). ALETA MITCHELL, with three roles in Distracted, made her Broadway debut in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (1984-1985) She has been seen in such feature films as Valmont (1989) and Malcolm X (1992), and made guest appearances on TV (including 3 separate roles on Law and Order). NATALIE GOLD, a doctor in Distracted is featured on the 2010 AMC TV series Rubicon. She previously had a recurring role on the daytime drama Guiding Light, and has made several guest appearances. MIMI LIEBER appeared as a dancer in the film Grease (1978). She had been making TV appearances almost as long, including several recent ones on The Naked Brothers (2008). On Broadway she has acted in I'm Not Rappaport (2002) and choreographed recent versions of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and The Merchant of Venice. SHANA DOWDESWELL appeared in several episodes of Law & Order and its spin-offs, and has recently been in demand for feature films, including The Winning Season and Choose. LISA EMERY received Drama Desk award nominations for Marvin's Room and Abigail's Party. Her most prominent feature film role was in How to Be Louise (1990). Her TV appearances include multiple visits to Law & Order. British actor PETER BENSON has appeared since 1995 on the ITV series Heartbeat. His feature films include Tess (1979) and Excalibur (1981).
