DOLORES COSTELLO
Signed b/w movie still from 1926's The Sea Beast, with actor Dolores Costello in a white dress holding hands with John Barrymore. Costello and Barrymore were married two years after the release of this movie.
Photograph signed "Sincerely/Dolores Costello." Pencil notations on verso in unknown hand. B/w, 8x10 overall, 7½x9¼ image, one surface. Movie still from The Sea Beast (1926). Costello is shown with John Barrymore, whom she married two years after the release of this movie. The daughter of film actor Maurice Costello, American actress Dolores Costello (1903-1979) started her acting career early, appearing in her father's films with her sister. Her earliest film credit is 1909's A Midsummer Night's Dream, as a fairy. Dolores grew into a delicate blonde beauty with patrician poise and, after working as a model and appearing with her sister in the Broadway revue George White's Scandals, resumed her movie career. In all, she had over 60 movies to her credit between 1909 and 1943, including starring roles in Little Lord Fauntelroy (1936) and The Magnificent Ambersons(1942). Dolores married John Barrymore (1928-1935) and is the grandmother of Drew Barrymore. Lightly toned, soiled, cracked, creased and bowed. Pen skipped while writing signature, which is still legible. Light scratches on image (not visible head-on). Otherwise in fine condition.
