DOLORES DEL RIO
Small black and white publicity photograph of Dolores Del Rio playing with children.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To/David Scott/Our best wishes./Dolores Del Rio.". B/w, 7x5 overall, image 4¾x4¾ (one surface). Educated in a Mexican convent, sultry Dolores Del Rio made her American acting debut in the 1925 silent movie Joanna and landed her first starring role three years later in Ramona. One of filmdom's most beautiful actresses, the dark-eyed, exotic Del Rio was typecast as Latin temptresses or peasant girls and became displeased with her Hollywood career. After she starred in Journey Into Fear, Del Rio's affair with its producer, Orson Welles, ended and she returned to Mexico in 1943. She quickly became Latin America's leading screen siren, starring in films such as Maria Candelaria and The Fugitive. Del Rio did not return to Hollywood until playing Elvis Presley's Indian mother in Flaming Star in 1960; she later appeared in the drama Cheyenne Autumn. Lightly creased at corners. Overall, fine condition.
