DOMINICK DUNNE
The screenwriter, novelist, and television show host signed this piece of paper
Autograph Note Signed: “To Joe/ Best/ Dominick Dunne”. 6x4 card. Dominick Dunne
(1925-2009), who had a swift rise and fall as a Hollywood producer in the 1970s,
overcame drug and alcohol addictions to emerge as a successful fiction and nonfiction
writer in the 1980s, documenting the crimes and lifestyles of rich and famous families.
After publishing an account of the trial of his own daughter Dominique Dunne's murderer in
Vanity Fair magazine (1984), he went on to cover the cases of O.J. Simpson, Klaus Von
Bulow, and Michael Skakel. He turned his reportage of big money and high crime turned
into a rich business, including a column (titled Dominick Dunne's Diary), a TV series (Court
TV's Power, Privilege and Justice from 2002 to 2009) and several thinly fictionalized novels
of real crimes, including The Two Mrs. Grenvilles(1985), A Season in Purgatory(1993),
and Another City, Not My Own(1997). Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., in an impassioned article in
the February 2003 edition of the Atlantic Monthly, blamed Dunne for accusations that led to
his cousin Skakel's indictment for the 1975 murder of Martha Moxley; Skakel was convicted
of the murder in 2001. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
