Autograph note signed: "To Don,/Best of luck -/Don Castle", on
verso: "Pour Don/[illegible]/Roger Dann" , in blue ink, 5½x4¼.
Unknown signature on verso. American actor Don Castle (1917-1966) began
his career as a minor actor in several films and television series, primarily in
the 1940's. He made his debut in Love Finds Andy Hardy (1938),
with other acting credits including Susan and God (1940),
Tombstone: The Town Too Tough to Die (1942), and Motor Patrol
(1950). He found more success as a television producer, working as an
associate producer on 63 episodes of the series Lassie. However,
his life was cut short from a medication overdose following a serious car
accident. ROGER DANN (1911-2000) ws a French film actor, debuting in the
1931 film Alone. A selective actor, Dann only appeared in 22
productions in his film career, including films Dream Castle (1934),
I Confess (1953), and Two for the Road (1967). He also
appeared in two Broadway productions: The Happy Time (1950) and The
Prescott Proposals (1953). Toned. Frayed and torn on right edge. Ink
notes (unknown hand). Small ink stain on bottom edge. Otherwise, fine
condition.
