DON JOHNSON
Don Johnson sends a printed letter about the fan letter he received
while on Miami Vice.
Printed Letter signed: "Don Johnson", 1p, 8½x11. No place, no
date. On his personal imprinted stationery. To David, in full: "I
received your letter and want to thank you for writing. It means a lot to me to
hear from viewers like yourself, and I enjoy reading your comments. By the way,
the success of Miami Vice depends on how much fan mail is received and your
letter has helped keep us on the air. Thank you again and I wish you all the
best! Sincerely". Stapled to bottom of letter is information on becoming a
member of his fan club. Don Johnson gained national press coverage as the
20-year-old star of the counterculture comedy The Magic Garden of Stanley
Sweetheart (1970). His next significant credit was the 1975 cult
favorite A Boy and His Dog. In 1984 he staged a comeback as Sonny
Crockett in the trend-setting TV cop series Miami Vice (1984-89).
During this second flush of fame, Johnson distinguished himself as a dependable
TV-movie leading man (notably as Ben Quick in the 1985 remake of The Long Hot
Summer). During the 1995-96 season, Johnson enjoyed another career
renaissance as star of the TV weekly Nash Bridges and as Kevin Costner's
adversary in the golf comedy Tin Cup (1996). Fold crease not near
signature. Fine condition.
