EBERHARD WACHTER (1929-1992) was an Austrian baritone celebrated for his
performances in the operas of Mozart, Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss which
he performed in famed venues around the world. After retiring from singing he
spent the rest of his life as an administrator of the Vienna Volksoper and the
Vienna State Opera. LUIS ALVA (b. 1927) was a Peruvian tenor and known as
the "King of Light Tenors" in the 1950s and 1960s.
Alva was one of the most exquisite interpreters of Mozart and
Rossini as well as some Donizetti, Bellini and Verdi. Some of his best-known
roles are Count Almaviava in Rossini's Barber of Seville and
Fenton in Verdi's Falstaff. Alva first performed at the Met (in
Falstaff) in 1964. GERAINT EVANS (1922-1992) made his operatic
debut as the night watchman in Wagner's Die Meistersinger at the Royal
Opera House in Covent Garden in 1948. The role Evans was most associated with
is the titular role in Verdi's Falstaff, which he first played in
1950 and subsequently in all major opera houses. He was also the first
British singer, since Eva Turner, to play major leading roles in Italian opera
houses on a regular basis. JEANETTE SCOVOTTI (b. 1936) is an American
coloratura soprano who appeared on Broadway in Li'l Abner (1956)
before turning to opera, becoming a regular at the Metropolitan Opera in
productions of La sonnambula, Boris Godunov,
The Barber of Seville, Don Giovanni and
Falstaff; she also traveled the country in venues such as the San
Francisco Opera, the Lake George Opera Company, and the Tanglewood Festival in
Massachsetts. Her many recordings are still available today. FRANTZ BRASS
(1928-2012) was a German bass singer was internationally renowned for
singing the operatic works of Mozart such as The Magic Flute,
Don Giovanni, and Requiem. Toned. Right edge frayed
