3½x5½. Don Maloney (b.1958) is a retired NHL left wing
who played professionally for twelve seasons. He was drafted to the New
York Rangers in 1978 and played with the organization for ten seasons before he
became a free agent in the 1988-89 season. After a brief season with the
Hartford Whalers, Maloney moved to the New York Islanders,
retiring after two seasons of play. After he retired, Maloney became the
General Manager for the Islanders from 1992-1995, and he worked as the
Assistant General Manager to Glen Sather, General Manager of the New York
Rangers. In 2007 the Pheonix Coyotes hired Maloney as their manager, and he
was the first to receive the award for General Manager of the year in
2010. The New York Rangers have also ranked Maloney as no. 26 on the
all-time list of New York Rangers in the book 100 Ranger Greats. In the NHL,
Maloney played 765 games, scoring 214 goals and aiding in 350 assists. Toned.
