DON MCLEANElectric guitar signed by writer/singer of American Pie Guitar signed "Don McLean" in blue ink. 39x13. Telecaster-style electric guitar signature on white pickguard. Body has American-flag design. Neck and headstock are unvarnished wood; headstock has "Laurel" printed on it. McLean, born in 1945, is an American musician best known for the 1971 song American Pie, a semi-autobiographical, eight and a half-minute song about McLean that was inspired by his memories of the death of Buddy Holly in 1959 and that peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Charts.(McLean claims on his Web site that the plane that Holly died in was not named "American Pie", contrary to urban legend) He started recording in 1969 with Tapestry and has recorded 27 albums of original material since then. His latest album, as of this biography, is 2005's Rearview Mirror: An American Musical Journey. Fine condition. Authenticated by Roger Epperson.
