DON S. HEWITT
The TV journalist and creator of the Emmy and Peabody-winning news show 60 Minutes is shown smiling and gazing into the camera in this this black and white photograph, signed in black felt tip
Photograph Signed: “All the best/Don Hewitt/60 minutes” in black felt tip.8x10. B/w. American reporter and TV executive Don S.Hewitt(1922-2009), born Donald Hewitt, got his start in journalism as a copy boy at the New York Herald Tribune and covering World War II. He had credits in TV news stretching back to the dawn of commercial television, when he was a producer and director on CBS's Douglas Edwards with the News (later CBS Television News, 1948-1962) and a director on Edward R. Murrow's See It Now. But his most important contribution to TV was probably as creator of the widely-copied, hugely influential - and hugely profitable - TV news show 60 Minutes. Hewitt was a producer on the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning show from 1969 to 2004. He was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 1990. Minor surface defects. Otherwise, fine condition.
