DON SHULA and BOB GRIESE
14x11 photograph outdoors in casual clothes both signing with their Hall of Fame classes
Photograph signed: "Don/Shula/H.O.F./'97", "Bob Griese/HOF 90". Color, 14x11. Also shown is Earl Morrall. In his 33 seasons as an NFL coach, DON SHULA (1930-2020)had a record 347 career wins (with a winning percentage of .665), made a record six Super Bowl appearances and was named Coach of the Year four times (Baltimore Colts, 1964, 1968; Miami Dolphins, 1970, 1971). Shula, who had been Head Coach of the Baltimore Colts from 1963-1969, is best known for his 25 years as Head Coach of the Miami Dolphins (1970-1995), who won consecutive Super Bowls in 1972 and 1973 and became the NFL's only undefeated team in 1972 with a 17-0 record. After retiring as Head Coach in 1995, Shula served as Vice Chairman of the Dolphins (1996-2003). He was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 1997, four years after being named "Sportsman of the Year" by Sports Illustrated. BOB GRIESE (b. 1945), a two-time All-America at Purdue, was the Dolphins' No. 1 draft choice in their second year in 1967. He enjoyed an excellent rookie season with 2,005 yards and 15 touchdowns passing and, for the remainder of his Hall of Fame career, he was the poised leader of a classic ball-control offense that generated an awesomely efficient running attack. A six-time Dolphins MVP, he was named All-Pro in 1971 and 1977, and All-AFC four times (1970, 1971, 1973, and 1977). He played in two AFL All-Star games and six AFC-NFC Pro Bowls. Earl Morrall, who had played for Shula in Baltimore, was picked up on waivers by the Dolphins in 1972. When Griese was injured, backup quarterback Earl Morrall stepped in, playing a key role in the Dolphins undefeated season and earning the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year award. Minor indentations below Shula signature, not visible head on. Otherwise, fine condition.
