Signature: “Donald G. Brotzman/ M.C. Colorado”, in blue ink, 3½x2. Donald Glenn Brotzman (1922-2004) was a Republican congressman who represented Colorado. From 1945-1946, Brotzman served in the Army with the 81st Infantry Division in the South Pacific during World War II. Following his return home, Brotzman first graduated from the University Colorado School of Business at Boulder, and then graduated from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1949. From 1952 to 1954, Brotzman was a member of the Colorado State House of Representatives. He then was elected to the Colorado State Senate (1954-1956). In 1954 and 1956, Brotzman was the Republican gubernatorial nominee. In 1959, he was appointed United States attorney for Colorado by President Eisenhower, a post that he occupied until 1961. Brotzman was elected to the 88th Congress (1963-1965), but was not reelected. He was once again elected to Congress in 1966 and served in the 90th Congress, as well as the three Congresses that followed (1967-1975). After serving in the U.S. House, Brotzman became Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (1975-1977). Additionally, he acted as president of the Rubber Manufacturers Association as well as the National Rubber Shippers Association. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
