DONALD W. RIEGLE JR.

The American politician from Michigan who served for five terms as a Representative and for three terms as a Senator in the U.S. Congress signs this 3½x2 card in blue felt tip
Signature: "Donald W. Riegle, Jr./Michigan", 3½x2 card. Donald W. Riegle, Jr. (b. 1938)) spent an evening with Richard Nixon, who helped persuade him to run for public office. Following Nixon's advice, Reigle won election to five terms in the US House of Representatives (1967-1976). In 1973, however, unhappy with President Nixon's policies on Vietnam and civil rights, Riegle switched parties from Republican to Democrat. He was subsequently elected to three terms in the US Senate. Riegle was the principal author of extensive new rules on the savings and loan industry, and led the Senate investigation into "Gulf War Syndrome". In 2001, he became head of the Washington, D. C. office of APCO Worldwide, a public relations firm. Lightly toned. Corners lightly worn. Slightly soiled. Pencil notes (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
