McKechnie was born on November 16, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan. A stage and
screen actress, she won the 1976 Tony Award for best Actress in a Musical for
her performance in A Chorus Line (1975-1990) and was nominated for a
for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical 20 years later for
her role in State Fair (1996). Other Broadway performances include How
to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (1961-1965), Promises,
Promises (1970-1972) and Company (1993). Her film and television
credits include Dark Shadows (1969-1970), The Little Prince (1974)
