DORIS DAY
Casual color photo of her with her dog Buster

Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Chuck...../Who loves animals as/much as I do!!/Always/Doris Day/and....../'Buster', too!!!". Color, 8x10. Day, who is pictured with "Buster" the dog, established the Doris Day Animal League in 1987. The League is America's premier lobbying organization dedicated to focusing attention on legislative issues involving the humane treatment of animals.Known for her wholesome, "girl-next-door" good looks and sparkling personality, singer and actress Doris Day, born Doris Mary Ann Von Kappelhoff in 1924, was one of Hollywood's most popular and highest paid actresses by the early 1950s. After her would-be dancing career was sidelined by an accident, Day had turned to singing, first touring with bands and then introducing hit after hit in a string of romantic comedies. Nominated for an Academy Award for Pillow Talk (1959), "America's Sweetheart" also brightened up the silver screen opposite such romantic leading men as Rock Hudson and Cary Grant. Her singing career was just as hot as her acting career, and her hit from the movie The Man Who Knew Too Much, "Que Sera, Sera", won an Oscar. Day was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2004. Slightly creased at lower corners. Light paper clip impression (barely visible) at upper background touches hair. Fine condition.
