DORIS DAY
Actress and singer Doris Day signed this document in 1955 as a limited partner in the Butte Valley Land and Cattle Company, authorizing a debt payment to Bank of America.
Document signed "Doris Day" as Limited Partner with signatures by six representatives of Butte Valley Land and Cattle Company, all in blue ink. 2 pages, 8½x13, single-sided sheets, thin paper.. Los Angeles, California, Aug. 28, 1955. Titled: "Certificate of Partnership and Authorization to Sign". This document authorized a debt payment of not more than $60,000 to Bank of America National Trust and Savings Corporation by Butte Valley Land and Cattle Company. Known for her wholesome, "girl-next-door" good looks and sparkling personality, Doris Day (1922-2019) was one of the most popular and highest paid actresses by the early 1950s. After her would-be dancing career was sidelined by an accident, Day had turned to singing, first touring with bands and then introducing hit after hit in a string of romantic comedies. Nominated for an Academy Award for Pillow Talk (1959), "America's Sweetheart" also brightened up the silver screen opposite such romantic leading men as Rock Hudson and Cary Grant. In 1987, she established the Doris Day Animal League, America's premier lobbying organization dedicated to focusing attention on legislative issues involving the humane treatment of animals. Lightly toned, creased and rippled. Two file holes and staple holes at top edge. Folded once and unfolded. Otherwise, fine condition.
