DORIS DAY Inscribed record album cover, the soundtrack LP for Calamity Jane Record Album Cover inscribed and signed: "To Michael/from/Doris Day", 10x10. Columbia Records album LP record for Calamity Jane, a screen musical co-starring Day and Howard Keel (1953). Signed on front cover picture of Day dressed in buckskin, with pistols drawn. Record Included. for her wholesome, "girl-next-door" good looks and sparkling personality, "America's Sweetheart" was one of the most popular and highest paid actresses by the early 1950s. After her would-be dancing career was sidelined by an accident, Day had turned to singing, first touring with bands and then introducing hit after hit in a string of romantic comedies. Nominated for an Academy Award for Pillow Talk (1959), she also brightened up the silver screen opposite such romantic leading men as Rock Hudson and Cary Grant. Her singing career was just as hot as her acting career, and her hit from the movie The Man Who Knew Too Much, "Que Sera, Sera", won an Oscar. In 1987, she established the Doris Day Animal League to lobby for legislation benefiting animals. Calamity Jane was not a typical role for Doris Day, but her pep, enthusiasm and singing talent helped make the film, and some of its songs ("Secret Love") into hits. Howard Keel played her love interest, Wild Bill Hickock. Edges and corners lightly worn. Surface creases not effecting signature. Lightly toned around edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
