image 4¼x6 (one surface). American soprano DOROTHY KIRSTEN (1910-1992)
combined operatic and popular music careers. A band vocalist and member of
the Kate Smith Chorus in the 1930s, she got her own radio show,
Keepsakes, in 1943. Kirsten sang on radio with Frank Sinatra, Bing
Crosby, Nelson Eddy and Perry Como. She made her opera debut in Chicago in 1940,
and sang with New York's Metropolitan Opera for 30 years, beginning in
1945. DOROTHY AHRENS sketched many stars of the 1940s and 1950s,
then invited them to autograph her art. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine
condition.
