The early Hollywood film stars sign their names in black ink
Signature: "Dorothy Mackaill" and "Bill Boyd" in black ink. 5x3 card. British-born actress DOROTHY MACKAILL (1903-1990) got her start in show business after running away from home at age 11 to act in the London theatre. After working in choruses in England and France, she joined the Broadway cast of The Century Revue in 1920, followed by Ziegfield's Midnight Frolic. That same year, she made her first silent film, The Face in the Window. She made her breakthrough to stardom in 1924, with leading roles in The Man Who Came Back (opposite George O'Brien) and the Western The Mine with the Iron Door. Her most notable talking film was Love Affair (1932), opposite a young Humphrey Bogart. She retired from movies in 1937, returning for a few roles in TV shows like Hawaii Five-0. American musician BILL BOYD (1910-1977) was born in Dallas, Texas. He performed with a group called The Cowboys Ramblers from 1934 to 1951, recording over 200 songs. There hits included"Under the Double Eagle", "Fan It", "Wah Hoo" and "New Steel Guitar Rag". In 1942 he appeared in six western films Along the Sundown Trail, Prairie Pals, Tumbleweed Trail, Rolling Down the Great Divide, Raiders of the West and Texas Man Hunt. Boyd has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Toned and soiled. Corners rounded. Light surface creases. Stained throughout. Otherwise, fine condition.
