Photograph signed: "Doug Atkins / H.O.F. 1982". B/w, 8x10. An all-around collegiate athlete, Doug Atkins (1930-2015) attended Tennessee on a basketball scholarship and won the Southeast Conference high jump title. His size and agility led him to a long career as a defensive lineman in the National Football League (1953-1969). Twelve of his seventeen seasons were spent with the Chicago Bears, where his success as a pass rusher earned him 8 Pro Bowl appearances. Upon his retirement, he held the records - since broken - for most games (205) and seasons for a defensive lineman. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1982 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 1985. In both 1954 and 1963, he won the NFL Championship.
