A biography of the actor/producer. In full: "'Only son of Douglas Fairbanks and his first wife, Beth Sully, Douglas Fairbanks, junr., was born in New York twenty-five years ago. His (sic) 6 feet tall and has light brown hair and blue eyes. His early life was spent with his mother. He appeared on the stage in 'Young Woodley' and 'Saturday's Children.' On the screen he has been seen in 'Stella Dallas,' 'The Barker,' 'The Toilers,' 'The Careless Age,' 'The Forward Pass,' 'Loose Ankles,' 'Sin Flood' and 'The Way of All Men.' His talkies include 'The Dawn Patrol' (First National), 'Little Accident' (Universal) and 'Little Caesar' (Metro-Goldwyn). On June 3rd, 1929, he married Joan Crawford, motion picture star. Recently he has appeared in 'Outward Bound' for Warner Brothers, and for First National in 'Chances' with Rose Hobart, and 'I Like Your Nerve' with Loretta Young.'" Twenty-five years old when this biography was written, Fairbanks was 81 or 82 when he signed this sheet (he had been born on December 9, 1909)! Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. (1909-2000), the son of the dashing actor of the 1920s and Anna Beth Sully, the daughter of an industrialist, was raised by his mother after his parents' divorce in 1918. At the age of 13, he starred in Lasky's Stephen Steps Out, an unsuccessful attempt to exploit the Fairbanks name. Although the younger Fairbanks, a movie producer as well as an actor, appeared in some 75 films, his father took little interest in his son's career, and the two did not become close friends until the early 1930s. His feature films included Stella Dallas (1926), Little Caesar (1930), The Prisoner of Zenda (1937), Gunga Din (1939) and Sinbad the Sailor (1947), and Fairbanks also appeared in a number of made-for-TV movies and hosted the anthology series, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. Presents (1952-1955). He was married to actress Joan Crawford until their divorce on May 12, 1933. In 1991, the year he signed this biography, Fairbanks married his third wife, Vera Shelton, to whom he was wed until his death on May 7, 2000 at the age of 90. His second wife was Mary Lee Eppling (married from 1939 until her death in 1988), the mother of his three daughters. Lightly creased, not at signature. Stray ink marks at mid-right and lower margins.
