Printed image depicts a scene from the Boston Public Library, the first municipal library in the country, founded in 1848. 20-cent stamp affixed, postmarked Philadelphia, PA, July 13, 1982, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Douglass C. North (1920-2015) and Robert W. Fogelwon the1993 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for reaffirming the importance of the research of economic history as an important method used to explain modern economic changes. He served as an expert for the Copenhagen Consensus, as an advisor to governments around the world, and as a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. North is also the author of numerous articles and books on economics. His final teaching post was at Washington University in St. Louis. Slightly creased.
