Autograph Letter Signed: "Margery G. Blackie" in blue ink. 1 page, front and verso, 5½x7. On her personal South Kensington letterhead, but written from Hedingham Castle, Halstead, Essex, no year, September 7. To Miss Home. In full: "On Thurs Oct 22nd as part of our British Homeopathic Congress we are having a Reception in Guildhall to which The Queen is coming. As President of the Congress I have so much pleasure in inviting you to come - Please do. The tickets are by invitation but I'd love a small donation, as that goes to keeping young doctors from all over the country to come up to the intensive Courses of Homeopathy which I run 3 times a year. We get 40 to 50 every time & on average of 8-10 new ones. It is long dress & to get there at 8 There will be a good buffet supper. I know you don't go out much in the evening because of your health, so if you haven't a long dress I can always put you in the gallery where you get a perfect view with a mixed but interesting crowd. All of whom havent (sic) long dresses, but I feel you can probably borrow one from your sister or someone, & I'd much rather have you where you belong in the Great Hall. Let me know to Hedingham if you can as I'm trying to get the work done while I'm on holiday. I shall be seeing you in 10 days". Dr. Margery G. Blackie (1898-1981), a successful homeopathic practitioner and brilliant teacher, was Dean of Faculty at the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital from 1965-1979. In 1968, she was appointed personal physician to Queen Elizabeth II. Blackie is also the author of numerous books about homeopathy including "The patient, Not the Cure" (1978) and Classical Homeopathy (1986). Slightly creased. Fine condition.
