Ford (1901-1986), professionally known as the DUKE OF PADUCAH, was one of
country music's first hillbilly comedians. A longtime member of the Grand
Ole Opry, The Duke of Paducah began his career in the early-1920s, as a banjo
player and vocalist for the McGinty Cowboys which was later renamed Otto Gray
and His Oklahoma Cowboys. Dressed in western outfits and white ten-gallon hats,
the band became one of the most successful country and western acts of the 1920s
and '30s, introducing such now-classic tunes as "She'll Be Comin' Round The
Mountain", "Who Broke The Lock On The Henhouse Door" and "The Cowboy's
Lament". JENKS "TEX" CARMAN (1903-1968), who played a Hawaiian guitar,
was also known as "The Dixie Cowboy". A regular performer on the country
music showcase Town Hall Party, his songs include "Hillbilly Hula", "The
Caissons Go Rolling Along" and "Locust Hill Rag". After a nearly 40 year career
in music, he released his final album The Ole Indian in 1962. George
R. Sanders, originally a disc jockey, became a prominent radio/TV interview
host, first in Los Angeles and later in Portland. Lightly yellowed. File nicked
at right edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
